Founded in 1848 by James Fackrell, a Mormon pioneer born in North Petherton, Somersetshire, England, West Bountiful was primarily a rural community until its official incorporation in 1949. Due to rapid growth throughout the 1950s, it grew to be listed among Utah’s third-class cities by 1962.
More residential than commercial, West Bountiful provides residents and visitors alike with plenty of recreational opportunities at West Bountiful City Park as well as Grey Horse Farms and Lakeside Golf Courses. Hikers and bikers also have easy access to Pages Lane, Mill Creek, and nearby Farmington Bay Trailheads.
