The first residents of Snyderville, UT were Mormon pioneers Parley Pratt and Samuel Snyder who explored the grassy basin of Kimball Creek in 1848 and began grazing cattle there in 1853. The Kimball Hotel, built by William Kimball in 1862 near the Overland Stage Station drew national attention to the area, thanks to visitors such as Mark Twain, Walt Whitman, and Horace Greeley.
Today, Snyderville’s grassy basin is used more for building homes than grazing cattle, and the community gained international attention, thanks to the adjacent Utah Olympic Park, which was the site for ski jumping and bobsled competitions during the 2002 Winter Olympics. Along with easy access to numerous opportunities for skiing and hiking, there are four golf clubs less than five minutes away as well as Jordanelle and Rockport State Park Reservoirs less than 15 minutes outside of town.
