Although the city's actual corporate name is "The City of North Salt Lake," our community’s more casual name is North Salt Lake, which was first settled by farmers from the late 1840s onward. Most of the city’s growth did not come until the mid-1900s as an outgrowth of Bountiful to the north and Salt Lake City to the south.
Primarily a bedroom community for commuters who work in Salt Lake City, North Salt Lake provides plenty of amenities for residents and visitors, such as Englewood Golf Course, Foxboro North Regional Park, Tunnel Springs Park, and access to the Wild Rose Trailhead. Additionally, in the southwest, North Salt Lake borders the Jordan River OHV State Recreation area and takes in a significant portion of the Legacy Nature Preserve wetlands habitat between the Legacy Parkway and the Jordan River.
