In the late 1850s and throughout the remainder of the 19th century, Midway, UT was an important agricultural hub for Provo River Valley farmers, as it was centrally located in the region. Due to the growth of the skiing industry in Park City, agriculture in the area began to take a backseat to tourism, transforming Midway into a service oriented community.
The Soldier Hollow Nordic Center, just a couple miles southwest of Midway, was the site of the 2002 Winter Olympics cross-country and biathlon events. Midway is also known for the large "hot-pot" or geo-thermal Homestead caldera at the Homestead Resort, which features year-round scuba diving in the caldera's 90-95 degree water as well as our annual Midway Swiss Days celebration that has attracted thousands of people to the town since 1947.
