Although overshadowed by nearby Kaysville and Farmington, Fruit Heights, UT was best known for the cherry orchards from which its name was derived. To make it possible for people living in the unincorporated parts of Davis County to bond for a water system, the community was incorporated in 1939.
Located along the front of the Wasatch Range to the east of the valley, residents and visitors to Fruit Heights have easy access to camping, hiking, and fishing along Bair Creek and nearby Holmes Creek. Nicholls Park, East Wilderness Park, and the Fruit Loops Mountain Bike Park all provide additional recreation opportunities as does the Davis Park Golf Course.
