Brief Overview of PEHP Insurance

PEHP, or Public Employees Health Program, is a Utah-based health insurance provider that offers comprehensive coverage for those with hearing loss. PEHP has been in business since 1964, when it was established as a self-funded health plan designed to provide healthcare coverage to public employees in the state of Utah.

PEHP provides coverage for hearing aids, cochlear implants, and hearing tests. This coverage includes audiological testing, hearing aid fittings and repairs, and hearing aid batteries. Programs Offered by PEHP

PEHP Hearing Insurance in Utah offers two basic programs for those with mild to severe hearing loss.

PEHP Hearing Aids Program

This program provides members access to various hearing care professionals, including audiologists and hearing aid specialists. The program also includes access to PEHP’s network of hearing care providers, which includes more than 300 locations across Utah.

The program gives members discounts on hearing aids, hearing tests, hearing aid repairs and cleanings, and hearing aid batteries. In addition, the program covers the cost of evaluation and counseling services related to hearing loss.

PEHP Hearing Care Program

This program provides members with hearing aids and hearing care at no cost. Members can receive up to two hearing aids annually and are eligible for a $500 allowance to purchase replacement hearing aids every two years. In addition, the program offers regular hearing tests, hearing aid repairs and cleanings, and hearing aid batteries.

Who Benefits Most From PEHP

The people who benefit most from PEHP hearing insurance are those who work in Utah as public sector employees, such as teachers, state and local government workers, and employees of the University of Utah and other state and local universities.

For members of PEHP, the hearing insurance covers up to 80 percent of the cost of hearing aids, up to $3,500 per hearing aid, and up to $500 for a hearing evaluation. This coverage includes the cost of purchasing hearing aids and batteries, repairs and replacement of hearing aids, and other related services.

The benefits of PEHP hearing insurance are especially useful for those who work in a noisy environment, such as a classroom or a factory.

In addition to the direct financial benefit that comes from PEHP hearing insurance, members also benefit from improved hearing. Improved hearing leads to improved communication, which can help members of PEHP become more successful in their careers.
